Our faith

We believe and trust in God, who loves us all.

We believe and trust in Jesus, who showed us what love means.

We believe and trust in the Holy Spirit, who helps us to love in return.

foodbankAs a church, we are very pleased to be able to support the North Oxfordshire Community Foodbank, along with all the other churches in Woodstock. Although, ideally, such things should not be needed, with finances getting ever tighter, and cut backs in the welfare system, people are increasingly needing the help of food banks across the country (see recent newspaper article). The North Oxfordshire one covers the area between Kidlington and Chipping Norton including Woodstock, Bladon and Tackley. We have a collecting box for food donations at the back of the church and contributions are always welcome.

Items that the foodbank particularly need at the moment include:

  • Tinned rice puddings
  • Tinned steam puddings
  • Tinned meat
  • Tinned fruit
  • Long-life semi-skimmed milk
  • Long-life cartons of orange juice
  • Tins of vegetables
  • Breakfast cereals (but not oats or muesli)
  • Jams and spreads

Prayer for the Week

Encouraging, enabling and equipping God,
open our eyes afresh to the wonders and miracles that surround us.
Encourage us, enable us and equip us for the challenges that we will face today,
for the injustices we shall see
and for the poverty we will encounter.
Encircle us with your strength
and with your love
this day and for evermore.
Amen.
